Over View of Task:
students will:
•develop research skills by using text,internet,and other sources to learn about the spiritual, artistic and cultural history of a country in South or Southeast Asia as it relates to the epic poem of Rama and Ravana.
•create a poster includes the most important spiritual and cultural locations in the country being researched.
•write a description of the manner that the story of Rama and Ravana is told in the spiritual and dramatic traditions and history of the country being researched.
•explain the importance of this epic poem in the spiritual and cultural history of these countries.

Specific Task Guide Lines:
Using the material that the group has discovered about their country, create a poster that includes:
1. an outline map of the country that has been carefully labeled by hand with important facts like the major cities,rivers,mountains,and other geographic features,and surrounding countries
2. a table of factual information that describes the country’s size,population,ethnic groups,and main religious groups.
3. describes the key spiritual and cultural centers.
4. write a description of the manner that the story of Rama and Ravana is told in the spiritual and dramatic traditions and history of the country being researched.


Formative Assessment:
  1. Notes taken in developmental workbook Consider the following
  • whether two countries in close proximity to one another influence each other politically, economically, culturally, and spiritually. (list an example of each type of influence)
  • how ideas about culture and religion move from one location to another.
  • whether a cultural or spiritual idea is altered as it moves from place to place.
  • what facts were similar in all the countries that were researched and discussed in class.
